Steve Whittall

Head Guide - Eagle Lodge

Steve grew up in Eastern Canada, but after seeing the mountains for the first time at age 12, he knew right away he was moving west. Landing in Whistler in the late 1980s, Steve started his guiding career over thirty years ago…initially as a raft guide; later as a heli-ski guide, and owner/operator of a whitewater kayak expedition company in the summer months.

Steve has been guiding with Bella Coola Heli Sports since 2014, and has been a heli-ski guide since 1997!

Steve’s passion for expedition paddling has inspired numerous first descents throughout British Columbia, and internationally. Notable paddling expeditions include the Dean River, which forms the northern boundary of the Bella Coola Heli Sports tenure, and the first complete descent of the Homathko River, which flows through the Pantheon heli-ski zone.

In addition to ski-mountaineering and kayaking, Steve spends his time surfing, kiting, mountain biking and alpine climbing. Steve is an active member of Whistler’s Search and Rescue Team.
